Challenges for Providing Victim Services in Rural Communities: Ensuring Sustainable and Effective Services
Lee Lounsbury
She/Her
Lee Lounsbury has worked in the human services field, with a focus on child welfare, for more than 40 years. She has held a number of direct service and administrative positions with public and nonprofit agencies in the Albany area. Lee started as a county caseworker in CPS and preventive services, after which she worked in a number of positions at the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) for 28 years, including Associate Commissioner in the child welfare division. After leaving OCFS in 2008, Lee shifted to the nonprofit sector, serving as the Associate Executive Director of the Council of Family and Child Caring Agencies (COFCCA), the Executive Director of Welfare Research Inc. (WRI), and Executive Director of Community Caregivers. While mostly retired now, Lee continues to provide consulting services to stay connected to, and support, the important and often undervalued work done by human services staff and volunteers.
